The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in Occupational Therapy consists of 36 credits including a project. Twelve credits of core courses must be taken in the department plus a minimum of six credit hours of master’s project. A maximum of six credits of graduate course work may be transferred from other institutions, subject to the approval of the departmental graduate committee. Most students take 2 courses per semester and complete the program in two years.
The FIU graduate school requires all course work to be completed within 6 years of starting the program.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the master’s degree program students must:
1. Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and have
successfully completed an accredited curriculum in occupational therapy.
2. Have a 3.0 GPA in upper division courses from the BS degree.
3. Have completed a statistical course.
4. Receive approval from the departmental graduate admissions committee.
5. International students are accepted subject to space and fiscal limitations. Students must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in occupational therapy from an institution recognized in their own country as preparing students for graduate level study; academic eligibility for further study in their own country; demonstrated proficiency in the English language by obtaining a minimum score of 550 on the written examination, or 213 on the computerized examination on the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL).
**Students can take up to 12 credits in the program before being officially admitted. To do this, you must use the non-degree seeking admission form
